Two of Brad Pitt’s close friends, Hollywood executive Brad Grey and Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, died this past week. A new tabloid report now alleges that the actor’s inner circle fear he might relapse over the tragedies. Gossip Cop, however, can exclusively bust this fake news.

As Gossip Cop reported, Grey died of cancer last Sunday, while Cornell was found dead in his Detroit hotel room on Wednesday night after committing suicide by hanging. Sources later told E! News that Pitt is “devastated and in shock” over the passing of his two friends. The National Enquirer is now claiming that the actor, who recently admitted to being sober for around six months, could start drinking again in the wake of their deaths.

Without any sources to back up its claim, the repeatedly discredited outlet blares, “Two showbiz deaths have friends fearing he’ll fall off the wagon!” However, the Enquirer is seemingly exploiting the deaths of Pitt’s friends and his admission of an alcohol problem to concoct a bogus report combining both topics. Gossip Cop is told by a trustworthy source close to the actor that his pals aren’t at all concerned he’ll resort to drinking to cope with the sad situation.

Unfortunately, the Enquirer is one of the biggest culprits when it comes to inaccurate stories about Pitt. Gossip Cop recently corrected the tabloid for wrongly reporting that Pitt is spending a “fortune” to stay sober. We also debunked the publication’s bogus story about Pitt being forced into rehab. The magazine’s latest article pertaining to the actor’s sobriety is equally untrue.
