Long movies are my favorites, to be honest, but I do recognize the need to watch something in a hurry. Plus, there’s that whole ADHD thing everyone seems to have. Attention spans are a thing of the past in this, the age of instant gratification. With that in mind, we’ve culled five great under 90-minute flicks from the Netflix library to share with you. No need to rush.

Sleepwalk With Me

Starring: Mike Birbiglia, Lauren Ambrose, Adam Driver, Carol Kane, James Rebhorn

Mike Birbiglia’s authentic account of his stand up career taking off and the adverse effect it had on his eight-year relationship is told through the prism of his sleepwalking habit. A surprisingly warm and often hilarious movie, Birbiglia shows he’s got a knack for comedy and romance in the film. His follow-up last year, Don’t Think Twice, was one of 2016’s funniest. Fruitvale Station

Starring: Michael B. Jordan, Melonie Diaz, Octavia Spencer, Kevin Durand, Chad Michael Murray

Bay Area residents are well familiar with the story of Oscar Grant (Jordan), a 22-year-old man killed by a BART police officer on New Year’s Day 2009. Fruitvale Station was the BART stop in Oakland where it happened and the movie recounts Grant’s last day. Directed by Ryan Coogler (Creed), the movie focuses on the young man’s life. It contains some of the best daddy/daughter moments in recent cinema history and it rings true. This is an emotional, raw film about real people and real tragedy. It’s short and moves fast, but if you’re looking for heavy drama, this is the one. (2013, 85 minutes)

Medicine for Melancholy

Starring: Wyatt Cenac, Tracey Heggins

If you enjoyed Moonlight last year, you should check out writer/director Barry Jenkins’ first film. Medicine for Melancholy is a black and white romance and a love letter to San Francisco. Following Micah and Jo’, two strangers who wake up together after a one-night stand, Jenkins’ film takes the seldom-used approach of telling a story after the sex. (2008, 88 minutes)

Frances Ha

Starring: Greta Gerwig, Mickey Sumner

Written by offscreen couple Noah Baumbach (who also directs) and Gerwig (who also stars), Frances Ha is an honest, funny, and dramatic portrait of female friendship in the big city. Another black and white movie, the film may be the best of Grewig, who lends her typical awkward sense of humor to every situation while trying to find her place in the world after she has to move out of her best friend’s place. (2012, 86 minutes)

Primer

Starring: Shane Carruth, David Sullivan

Those unfamiliar with Schrödinger and physics in general will definitely need a rewatch of Primer, writer/director/star Shane Carruth’s reality-based exploration of the theory of time travel. But you’ve got to see it once, at least, to get an understanding of the ambitious exploration of the physics of going back in time and how this ultra-low budget indie decided to try to explain it. (2004, 77 minutes)
